August 7th - Historical Society Picnic @ 1:00)

(Hotdogs, Corn and beverage provided.  Please bring a dish to pass.)

September 18th - Old Fashion Farm Festival. 

(10:00 am - 3:00 pm @ Babcock Cobblestone Museum.)

(Free parking and admission to the public.)

October 3rd - Tatting Demonstration

(7:00 pm @ Somerset Town Hall)

HERITAGE VILLAGE LACE GUILD will be presenting their craft and the history and background of lace and tatting at the Somerset Town Hall, 8700 Haight Road, Barker, NY. The Guild offers demonstrations, classes and seminars for aspiring students who would like to learn how to make bobbin lace and tatting. A public exhibit of members’ work is at the Amherst Museum every spring.  Refreshments will be served after the presentation.

October 26th - A HISTORICAL PORTRAYAL OF JOSEPH ELLICOTT

(7:00 pm @ Somerset Town Hall)

A historical portrayal of Joseph Ellicott will be presented by Dennis Upton at the Somerset Town Hall, 8700 Haight Road, Barker, NY. This is a first- person presentation of Dennis depicting Ellicott’s final hours in Western New York before being sent down the Erie Canal to an institution in New York City. You will recognize many of the places with the Ellicott name: Ellicottville, Ellicott Creek, the Ellicott Building, etc… His name is synonymous with the Holland Land Company. Come experience what it would have been like to be in the presence of Joseph Ellicott himself!

 

December 11th - Victorian Christmas

(1:00-4:00 pm @ Babcock Cobblestone Museum)

If you want to experience what Christmas in the country was like in the late 1800’s, join us for horse drawn sleigh rides, (or buggy) homemade cookies and hot chocolate, and singing carols around the antique organ in the historic Babcock house. FREE and family friendly!

*The house is open on Sundays from 1:00 - 4:00 PM from June through August.
